Check a medical bill on this device
Type or paste the lines from an itemized bill and, if you have one, the explanation of benefits. The questions stay in this browser.
Step 1 of 8: Start
Before you type a bill
Everything stays in this browser on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
There is no account. Bill lines, names, and claim numbers are not sent to Montgomery Appworks. A reload clears them unless you choose to keep them on this device. If you keep them, you can come back to the letter, the payoff plan, and an explanation-of-benefits reminder. Delete everything removes that copy immediately.
Loading the on-device rules…
Enter the bill lines
Use one row per charge. Code can be blank. If you have an explanation of benefits, open EOB figures on that row. You can also paste a spreadsheet.
Include a header row, or use columns in this order: date, code, description, units, charge, EOB billed, allowed, plan paid, patient responsibility, remark. Amounts can look like 12.34 or "$1,234.50".
Keyboard
Tab moves between fields. Each delete button is named with its line number. Add a line is a button at the end of the list. In the paste box, Ctrl+Enter (Command+Enter on a Mac) adds the pasted lines.
A few questions about this bill
Leave blank if you are not sure. Do not guess.
These questions are the good-faith estimate comparison for uninsured or self-pay care. Compare each provider's estimate with that same provider's bill, not a mix of providers.
What to ask about
These are possible issues to ask about, not findings of error. Many bills are correct. Check with the billing office or your insurer.
Letters you send yourself
You review, edit, and send this yourself. Nothing is sent by BillUnravel. Copy, print, download, or open your own email app. The itemized-bill letter on the letter page is the same kind of template and does not use saved storage.
Check every detail before you send it. You choose whether and where to send it.
If your email app cuts the letter off, use Download .txt and attach that file yourself.
Payoff plan
Estimates only. Your actual payments depend on your agreement with the provider or lender.
Ask about financial assistance and an interest-free plan before you borrow. Get any agreed plan in writing. Some medical credit cards charge deferred interest: if the full balance is not paid by the end of a promo period, interest can be charged from the start. This estimate does not model deferred interest. The APR starts at 0% because many provider plans are interest-free.
Moneycapade is another Montgomery Appworks app. We don't send it any of your bill details.
Track this plan in Moneycapade (opens in a new tab)
The link only says you came from BillUnravel. Download the CSV and enter the amounts yourself if you want them in another app.
Case notes
A local log of calls. Nothing here is sent. A calendar file downloads only when you ask for it.
Your copy of this work
Delete everything removes it from this browser immediately. Export downloads a JSON file to your device. That file can contain names, addresses, and claim numbers, and it stays on your device unless you move it. Import reads a file you choose. None of these contact our server.
